Generousity

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who donated money to help the dogs in need. Without the help the vet bills would have been too much for us to pay. We really appreciate and the doggies do to. Blue went to his new home already and Dimi, the pup is thriving and is now home with us living the life every pup deserves. Thanks again.

Dogs in need

We seem to have an influx of dogs these days and some needing medical attention. Thank you to all that responded to the e-mail and facebook group for mounting medical bills. Your generousity is greatly appreciated. Blue is doing better on his medication but we do not know yet what else it may take to complete the healing of his poor ear. Yesterday, I came across a pup needing medical attention and had the owner sign the dog over as it was obviously from the lack of energy that this pup needed vet care immediately. The pup was brought to the vet ASAP and it was discovered that this 4mos old pup that I first met a few weeks ago running and happily wagging his tail was diagnosed with Parvo. Many pups die from this virus but I really wanted to try and give this pup an opportunity to live. After a costly night at the Metro Emergency and 24/7 observation of the pup, the vet bills continue. If anyone has time or ideas for fundraising please contact me as the rescue could use some help. I am so busy with the "hands on" helping place dogs that there is no time for me to coordinate a fundraiser. I also have several dogs waiting to come into foster homes if anyone can foster, please let me know. I will update the pups progress. Right now he is fighting for his life but is holding his own. BTW this pup is not a Shepherd. We try to stay with Shepherds only due to our small size but this pup needed help immediately. He is a Valley Bull/AmStaff mix and I will post his pic soon. Thanks again for your donations, we could not have helped these two doggies in need without it.

HOPE

Feeling kind of empty tonight although I am surrounded by seven dogs but one is missing - HOPE. My sweet Hope. Watching her grow into the beautiful well behaved dog was an amazing adventure. She still has a long way to go with regards to trusting people but she no longer runs away she stays in the room with new people and would lean against me for reassurance. She used to run for cover into her crate in the back porch. Once she trusts she trusts completely and was truly devoted to our family. She loved us and we certainly loved her. Her first adopted home of two weeks did not work out and she was returned to us. Recently, we had many many people interested in Hope but I wanted to be sure that her next home would be successful and I feel confident that Hope just fell into clover. She is going to spend part of her week in the city and the other part in her vacation home in Liverpool where she will be playing on the beach with her doggie friends. Hope will love this as she loves dogs and I think my boy George is missing her head resting on his back tonight. They became buddies pretty quick and she learned how to be a dog from my pack. This is what happens though when they share your life for any length of time. I miss her and worry about her tonight but this is what rescue is all about. Sadness, happiness and everything in between. She came wounded both physically/mentally and left a beautiful dog with more Hope in her eyes than when she arrived. We love you Hope its been a great three months getting to know you. You are what makes all the work worth while.

AUCTION

We held our first Fund Raising event today and it was a huge success. Thank you to all the people who came out to support this event. There was about 90 people in attendance. There were lots of auction items thanks to the generousity of so many people/businesses. We raised a little over 2400.00 and this is going to help our rescue in many ways. Usually we barely scrape by getting the dogs ready for adoption with the adoption fee but what if a dog needed more medical treatment? We will be building more fencing/enclosures for the dogs as well. A special thanks to Paula Carter for all her hard work and dedication to the rescue. Of course the band "Gravity" donated their afternoon by playing their wonderful music. Everyone enjoyed their music.

Goodbye to Annie

With heavy heart, Annie will be put to rest today. After her last series of epileptic seizures she is not herself anymore. She keeps falling down and losing her balance. She doesn't run like a deer anymore, she saunters along and always seems worried that she is going to have another seizure. We love Annie so much and she was a perfect dog bright loving and kind but we don't want her to suffer any more. She is now on the maximum dosage of medication and she seems to be in a fog. We just went for a long hike on the beach. She had wet food(her favourite treat) for breakfast and I spent all morning with her. My three year old said goodbye to her this morning and told her that "grammy and grampy are going to love her" and I am sure they will. : )
